About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide leadership and strategic planning for Territory Managers in assigned districts
  • Monitor sales activities to maximize profitability and growth
  • Establish annual sales objectives, quotas, and forecasts
  • Project sales volume and profit for existing and new properties
  • Assign and reassign accounts as necessary
  • Recruit, motivate, develop, and coach Territory Managers
  • Monitor performance and provide feedback on progress toward goals
  • Participate in staff selection, performance and compensation evaluations, corrective action, and terminations
  • Promote continuous training and development
  • Lead change management in support of organizational goals
  • Consult with Human Resources as appropriate
  • Assist Territory Managers with sales calls and provide constructive feedback
  • Participate in major client presentations and discussions
  • Collaborate with operating divisions and internal departments
  • Increase sales through account penetration and analysis of sales and volume
  • Use product knowledge, ROI, analytical research tools, and sales training resources to target prospects
  • Maintain, build, and expand customer relationships
  • Provide internal departments with customer-service information and advance notifications
  • Monitor accounts and take corrective action to maintain customer satisfaction
  • Escalate jeopardized accounts and unresolved issues to management
  • Coordinate with accounts receivable to ensure timely invoice payment
  • Travel throughout the assigned district, including overnight travel as necessary
  • Work evening and weekend hours depending on customer needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School education required
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent relevant industry experience
  • 2 or more years' experience successfully growing profitable sales in the foodservice industry
  • 5+ years' foodservice sales experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, presentation, negotiation, and closing skills
  • Strong leadership skills, including mentoring and developing individuals and teams
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts, including pricing and forecasting
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Computer literacy, including customer databases, internet navigation, and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook)
  • Familiarity with Phocas, Gforce, Box, Salesforce.com, and PeopleSoft is a plus
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and operate computer and telephone equipment
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
  • Valid driver's license with a driving record meeting company minimum standards
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States
  • If working remotely, required software, a dedicated distraction-free workspace, and a business-friendly environment for calls
