About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist MHE Technician III with maintenance activities for material handling equipment and industrial batteries
- Perform preventive maintenance on the MHE fleet, including checking, draining, and filling oil; inspecting, adjusting, or replacing belts and chains; troubleshooting electrical controls; replacing motors and controls; and conducting safety checks
- Complete small electrical repairs and welding projects
- Maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, transmission, drive, braking, mast, steering, suspension, and PLC systems
- Complete building and grounds projects such as moving fixtures, changing lights, light carpentry, painting, light plumbing, and minor electrical-device repairs
- Assist battery technicians with charger repairs, battery changes, plug and tip repairs, battery watering and washing, acid-spill cleanup, battery-rack cleaning, and equalizing charges
- Participate in the departmental on-call program
- Log time and materials daily in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
- Maintain daily housekeeping in maintenance and work areas
- Keep tools and equipment clean, safe, and operational
- Respond to emergencies and champion department safety
- Follow safety policies, PPE requirements, OSHA regulations, and Facilities Department procedures
- Interact effectively and build cooperative working relationships
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Four years in an MHE maintenance position; or equivalent combination of education and related experience
- Must possess a valid state Driver's License and provide proof of liability coverage meeting Company standards
- Complete a Sysco approved defensive driving program
- Obtain a Powered Industrial Equipment Certification from Sysco within 3 months
- MHE 8 hour maintenance tech certificate from an MHE manufacturer (e.g., Crown, Raymond, Hyster)
- Knowledge of controls and low-voltage AC and DC electrical systems
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations
- Ability to perform arithmetic using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds occasionally
- Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call hours
- Compliance with OSHA and other local, state, and federal regulations
- Ability to work in wet, hot, extreme cold, humid conditions, confined spaces, and around moving mechanical parts
