About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Promote Sysco's products and services through outside sales
  • Build relationships with new and existing accounts
  • Develop new business, penetrate existing accounts, and minimize lost business
  • Seek and qualify prospects within the assigned territory
  • Research customer needs and develop appropriate product and service mixes
  • Evaluate market trends and recommend products
  • Provide customers with market, product, pricing, availability, and product-use information
  • Provide product information and practical training to customer personnel
  • Drive a personal vehicle to customer accounts, conventions, company meetings, and related events
  • Communicate and collect accounts receivable with the credit department and clients
  • Manage deliveries and troubleshoot order-process issues
  • Participate in company functions, promotions, customer visits, and events
  • Attend sales and district meetings and ongoing training sessions
  • Assist with training new employees
  • Review daily and weekly sales, customer bid, special-order, and gross-profit reports
  • Prepare sales budgets, reports, quotes, menu suggestions, credits, and pickup requests
  • Maintain sales records and file reports
  • Achieve company-established sales and profit goals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Hospitality, Culinary Arts or related discipline OR HSD/GED and 3 years Restaurant Management, B2B or outside sales experience, or equivalent relatable experience including completion of the Sysco Sales Internship
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets company insurability standards
  • Current automobile insurance with bodily injury limits of $100,000 each person and $300,000 each accident, and property damage limits of $100,000
  • Pass employment testing
  • Must sign Sysco Protective Covenants Agreement
  • Reside or be willing to relocate to the geographical vicinity of the territory
  • Basic PC skills and proficiency with MS Office
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to work some non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Bi-Lingual preferred
  • Restaurant Management, Foodservice Outside Sales, or Chef Experience preferred
