About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise the daily work and safety of Delivery Associates
  • Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures, planned routes and safe, efficient customer service
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulatory agencies, including DOT and OSHA
  • Ensure electronic logs are current and accurate
  • Manage labor hours and consumable supplies within budget
  • Prepare work schedules, including extra work days and shifts
  • Oversee selection and utilization of company assets for the Delivery department
  • Organize required repairs with appropriate departments
  • Review delivery functions and productivity reporting
  • Suggest efficiency ideas and cost reduction measures and assist with delivery changes
  • Interpret, train and enforce company policies, protocols and procedures, including food safety, DOT and record keeping
  • Collaborate with Sales Management and Marketing Associates to resolve customer and delivery issues
  • Visit customer locations and meet with customers to address issues and assess delivery difficulty
  • Maintain associate relations through department and pre-shift meetings and ongoing interaction
  • Answer associate questions, explain policies and procedures, and monitor morale and engagement
  • Coordinate with Safety on training, associate observations, preferred work methods, accident investigations and safety inspections
  • Recommend disciplinary action and behavior modification when required
  • Execute staff selection, development, discipline, performance reviews and/or terminations
  • Perform supervised associates’ duties and other related duties as needed and qualified

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • 1-3 years related experience and/or training
  • Complete a Sysco approved defensive driving program
  • HazMat certification preferred
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver License meeting Company standards preferred
  • Working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Ability to follow established procedures and comply with local, state and federal regulations
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software, with ability to learn Sysco technology software and programs
  • Ability to read, comprehend, write and speak English
  • Ability to work non-traditional business hours including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and on-call
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and push/pull up to 350 pounds
  • Ability to work in wet, hot, extreme cold and/or humid conditions, around moving mechanical parts and in confined spaces
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States
