About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage inbound and outbound warehouse operations, including receiving, replenishment, order selection, and loading
  • Manage daily work and safety of warehouse managers, supervisors, and associates
  • Manage labor hours, consumable supplies, work schedules, extra work days, and shifts within budget
  • Supervise selection, purchase, and utilization of company assets
  • Coordinate warehouse upgrades and repairs with other departments
  • Manage relationships and documentation for third-party vendors, including lumping services
  • Review shipping and loading audits and ensure accurate HAACP, food safety, and catch-weight documentation
  • Ensure materials are handled and stored correctly to minimize loss
  • Suggest efficiency and cost-reduction measures and implement operational changes
  • Identify problems, propose solutions, and promote cross-department cooperation
  • Ensure receiving, selection, and loading software systems are used and updated
  • Conduct department and pre-shift meetings and maintain communication with associates
  • Monitor associate morale and engagement and respond to improvement ideas
  • Interpret, train, and enforce company policies and procedures
  • Coordinate safety training, observations, preferred work methods, accident investigations, and inspections
  • Recommend disciplinary action and behavior modification when required
  • Execute staff selection, development, discipline, performance reviews, and terminations
  • Perform supervised associate duties and other related duties as needed
  • Comply with OSHA, AIB, FDA, USDA, and other local, state, and federal regulations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • 1–3 years related experience and/or training
  • Must obtain Powered Industrial Equipment Certification from Sysco within 3 months
  • Ability to read, comprehend, write, and speak English
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public
  • Basic arithmetic ability using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret varied instructions
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet and word-processing software; ability to learn Sysco technology software and programs
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to lead individual and team discussions and meetings
  • Ability to apply policies consistently and objectively
  • Ability to work constructively with peers and associates across departments and operating companies
  • Ability to follow established procedures and comply with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Ability to manage deadline-oriented pressures and customer service issues
  • Ability to make independent decisions supporting company policies and procedures
  • Ability to perform required physical demands, including occasionally lifting or moving up to 100 pounds
