About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Write and edit web content, user manuals, and web pages for transportation R&D office websites, SharePoint, and Google Sites
- Use Drupal to upload, maintain, and post content on agency websites and intranets after required approvals
- Manage review and approval processes with client contacts and external sources
- Optimize text for SEO and ensure web pages comply with Section 508, including alternative text for images
- Crop, recolor, resize, and manipulate web images and prepare compliant graphics
- Coordinate and track quarterly certifications to keep page content current
- Fix broken links and perform web page maintenance
- Monitor web pages to confirm updates are posted on schedule
- Suggest improvements to readability, organization, and navigation
- Provide quality control of data and content
- Edit, sort, and filter database content and support public release task tracking and data access
- Develop and present outreach training to staff
- Write training materials using a presentation application
- Review external and internal Google Sites and SharePoint structures and recommend communication improvements
- Coordinate processes and procedures
- Report to the Engagement Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English, Marketing, Business, or a related discipline
- 5–7 years of experience in web content management, including 3 years within the last 5 years
- Ability to obtain a public trust clearance
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
- Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Experience in writing and editing
- Experience creating and editing effective training materials
- Experience using a presentation application
- Experience providing quality control of data and content
- Experience presenting outreach training to staff
- Experience using Drupal and other content management systems
- Web experience required
- Ability to use graphic applications to crop, recolor, resize, and manipulate web images
- Preferred: transportation experience, especially in surface transportation research
- Preferred: knowledge of safety and operations, autonomous vehicles, human factors, roadway design, materials, and bridge engineering
