About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Review marketing and advertising materials for accuracy, regulatory compliance, and adherence to applicable legal and industry standards
  • Escalate marketing compliance matters to legal counsel as appropriate
  • Partner with Marketing and Commercial teams to provide education, guidance, and best practices on marketing compliance
  • Develop and deliver regular training and communications on evolving compliance expectations
  • Design and implement scalable marketing compliance processes, workflows, and controls
  • Develop and refine a ticketing and intake system for compliance review requests
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to measure function performance and support reporting to Legal leadership
  • Manage the organization’s trademark portfolio across brands and affiliated entities
  • Coordinate timely trademark registration and prosecution with outside counsel as needed
  • Monitor trademark infringement through watch services and alerts
  • Triage and classify trademark alerts
  • Run cease-and-desist and opposition/cancellation workflows with counsel
  • Escalate trademark enforcement go/no-go decisions to Legal
  • Support broader intellectual property compliance efforts across the department

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
  • 7+ years of experience in marketing compliance, regulatory affairs, intellectual property, or a related field
  • Strong working knowledge of advertising standards, marketing regulations, and trademark law
  • Familiarity with healthcare advertising regulations and guidelines, including FTC rules, state dental board advertising requirements, state unfair and deceptive practices laws, patient financing advertising requirements, and CMS/state-specific restrictions, strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to build and scale compliance programs, including process design, system implementation, and cross-functional change management
  • Experience managing trademark portfolios and working with the USPTO or outside IP counsel preferred
  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment while knowing when to escalate
