About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the Employee Benefits function for the organization
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on benefits across the US, Canada, and regions in EMEA
  • Partner with HR and Finance leadership on benefits strategy and budget
  • Drive benefits processes and efficiencies with the HR leadership team
  • Educate, advise, and influence management and employees on benefits initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and global benefits laws
  • Provide strategic leadership for the design, development, implementation, administration, and communication of benefits, wellness, and leave programs
  • Evaluate, select, and manage vendors, brokers, and carriers
  • Monitor service levels, costs, utilization, and other metrics
  • Assess market trends and refine the company’s benefits strategy
  • Develop communication and education strategies for benefits, PTO, financial savings, and leave programs
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, Form 5500 filings, nondiscrimination testing, and audits
  • Review, update, and implement organizational policies for US and global regulatory compliance
  • Oversee leave management administration and employee support
  • Partner with HR Business Partners on complex or escalated leave situations
  • Partner with internal SOX and IT teams to ensure SOX compliance
  • Ensure compliance with privacy/HIPAA and other legal and regulatory requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience
  • PHR, SPHR, or other HR-related certifications strongly preferred
  • 12 years’ progressive experience developing, implementing, and measuring Employee Benefit programs globally
  • 5 years’ experience leading teams of Employee Benefits
  • Strong knowledge of self-funded insurance plans, COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation, unemployment, disability, financial savings, and paid time off programs
  • Experience with multi-state and global employers
  • Strong knowledge of HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience presenting to and influencing senior business leaders
  • Ability to analyze data statistically and report results in written or graphical formats
  • Ability to diagnose problems and implement appropriate solutions
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and manage conflict resolution
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
  • Ability to lead cross-functional project teams
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced medical device, biotech, or pharmaceutical environment preferred
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is unavailable
