About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the enterprise subject matter expert for pest management and Integrated Pest Management
- Lead the day-to-day operation of Target's enterprise pest management program across stores and Supply Chain locations
- Translate enterprise strategy, governance and risk decisions into consistent standards, controls and operating routines
- Design, maintain and improve risk-based standards for monitoring, escalation, response, remediation, verification and closure of pest conditions
- Lead vendor performance management and hold vendors accountable for measurable outcomes
- Manage contractors and program support resources for invoicing, reporting, dashboards and program data
- Lead regional pest operating model activities, including issue response, vendor performance, root-cause assessment, escalation, remediation and closure validation
- Maintain visibility to program spend and budget ownership; analyze trends and expense opportunities
- Establish program health and performance reporting, including KPIs, dashboards and vendor scorecards
- Lead weekly, biweekly, monthly and quarterly program accountability reviews
- Coordinate shared accountability across Store Operations, Supply Chain, field leadership, facilities, Risk & Compliance, Guest Relations, Media, Sourcing and service providers
- Lead response to escalated pest events and regulatory, safety or reputation pressure through risk assessment, corrective actions, communications and follow-up
- Drive continuous improvement and simplification through trend analysis, stakeholder feedback, audit findings, vendor capabilities and new service models
- Lead pilots and implementation of approved program changes
- Lead cross-functional projects to design, develop and implement pest management programs, policies, standards and requirements
- Pursue continuing education and represent Target with relevant trade and professional organizations
- Support the FSQR team with other assigned responsibilities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 8+ years of experience in pest management, food safety and quality, regulatory compliance, retail or Supply Chain operations, or related program leadership
- Bachelor's degree in Food Safety, Food Science, Entomology, Biology, Environmental Health, Quality Management, Business, Operations or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of Integrated Pest Management principles and practices
- Knowledge of pest-conducive structural, sanitation and behavioral conditions, root-cause analysis and sustainable remediation
- HACCP, PCQI or relevant pest/food safety certification preferred, or ability to achieve applicable certification within 6 months of hire
- Food safety, quality or pest program auditing experience preferred
- Experience working with contract vendors to achieve food safety, quality and regulatory compliance
- Experience with vendor performance management, service-level expectations, corrective action and escalation
- Experience supporting scopes of work, contract requirements, sourcing and negotiation, vendor portfolio decisions, and program spend or budget analysis
- Understanding of compliance management systems and ability to structure programs around documented requirements, key controls, testing, monitoring and performance management
- Analytical and critical thinking skills using data to influence decisions, identify risks and improvement opportunities, and develop root-cause remediation plans
- Effective project and program management, strategic planning and organizational skills
- Ability to document end-to-end processes, develop roadmaps and deliver multiple priorities against timelines with minimal direction
- Ability to apply change principles and lead through ambiguity
- Strong collaboration and influencing skills across internal and external partners
- Ability to lead or influence high-performing teams and resolve conflict constructively
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Executive-level judgment and self-motivation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
