About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Champion current and future guests and inspire the organization to act in their best interest
- Help partners build consumer-obsessed strategies and activations
- Own understanding of consumer and guest motivations, needs, attitudes, and experiences for Target’s discretionary businesses
- Design and execute guest and consumer research for key initiatives
- Triangulate perspectives across primary and secondary sources
- Identify trademarked insights
- Translate insights into compelling stories that inspire action
- Partner with merchants and key roundtable partners as the primary insights partner
- Define learning agendas
- Determine appropriate research methods, data sources, partners, and vendors
- Manage external vendors and research partners, including aligning objectives, reviewing deliverables, ensuring insight quality, and holding partners accountable
- Provide ongoing consultation to business partners
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously
Requirements
What you’ll need- Four-year degree or equivalent experience
- 6+ years of work experience in Marketing Research, Consumer/Shopper Insights, and/or Experience Insights
- Extensive experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Knowledge of syndicated and first-party insight tools
- Proficiency conducting DIY research
- Familiarity with DIY research providers such as Fuel Cycle and Qualtrics
- Experience with internal and external consumer data sources, including first-party behavioral data, syndicated tools, survey data, qualitative research, and marketplace or competitive signals
- Ability to manage external vendors and research partners
- Strong experience synthesizing qualitative and quantitative data from multiple sources
- Ability to craft compelling insight narratives for senior leadership, stakeholders, and partners
- Experience working closely with business partners to infuse consumer-centered thinking into decision-making
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while balancing speed, rigor, and business relevance
- Work duties cannot be performed outside the country of the primary work location unless otherwise prescribed by Target
