About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Operate, inspect, troubleshoot, test, repair, calibrate, and maintain natural gas compression and auxiliary equipment
- Maintain electronic, electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and control systems, including aero-derivative and VFD electric-driven compressors up to 40,000 HP
- Install, commission, maintain, and repair compressor station equipment, custody transfer measurement assets, and related pipeline facilities
- Troubleshoot and maintain shutdown devices, fire and gas systems, auxiliary systems, HVAC systems, UPS devices, relief and over-pressure protection devices, control valves, PLCs, and control systems
- Independently diagnose equipment and control system issues, identify corrective actions, and execute maintenance safely
- Coordinate and monitor contractors and subcontractors
- Support outage, project, and turnaround activities across the area
- Complete administrative functions and use company systems for communication, work management, reporting, and maintenance documentation
- Follow company and regulatory safety standards, issue work authorizations and permits, complete hazard reviews, lead tailgates and safety meetings, and ensure Community, Safety, and Environment compliance
- Maintain operator qualifications and technical task certifications
- Provide technical guidance and participate in emergency repairs and operational support
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED required
- 4 or more years of related work experience
- Journeyperson, Red Seal, or equivalent recognized trade certification in Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls, or a closely related discipline
- Demonstrated experience operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial electrical, instrumentation, automation, and control systems in a field environment
- Ability to meet and maintain company-defined qualifications and technical tasks
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently
- Experience supporting natural gas compression, custody transfer measurement, or pipeline facilities
- Qualified Electrical Worker Certification
- Strong working knowledge of PLCs, shutdown systems, fire and gas systems, control valves, instrumentation, rotating equipment support systems, and electric-driven compression systems including VFD applications
- Experience using SAP, computerized maintenance management systems, and digital tools
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate contractors, prioritize work, and support outage or project execution
- Experience issuing work authorizations and permits, completing hazard reviews, and leading tailgates and field or safety meetings
- Ability to work effectively across disciplines in a geographically dispersed area
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity
- Ability to lift, pull, push, and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of physical energy
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and squat for extended periods
- Ability to twist head and back for extended periods
- Ability to work in confined spaces, on ladders, catwalks, staging, and platforms, and on slopes and ditches
- Ability to work with hands above head and while lying on back
- Ability to work in adverse weather and varying temperatures
- Ability to work with approved respiratory protection
- Valid driver’s license and ability to provide a driver’s abstract
- Successful completion of pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
- Willingness to travel for temporary assignments, meetings, or training, including occasional overnight stays
- Participation in on-call rotation, overtime, and emergency support
- Legal authorization to work in Canada without restrictions
- Successful completion of required background screening
