About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform and document preventive maintenance and field change orders on digital scanners and related hardware
- Diagnose root causes, repair or replace parts, and validate system performance according to SOPs and regulatory standards
- Lead complete site setups, including unpacking, assembly, calibration, networking, middleware, and LIS integration
- Respond to on-site service calls to minimize downtime and maintain uptime SLAs
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues using diagnostic tools and data-gathering techniques
- Work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations
- Escalate complex or recurring issues through established procedures
- Maintain service reports, work orders, and calibration records in CRM and tracking systems
- Carry and monitor the company cell phone and respond during work and on-call hours, excluding rest/meal periods as applicable
- Manage tools, parts, and inventory
- Adhere to documentation, regulatory, and industry quality standards
- Build partnerships with laboratory staff, pathologists, and clinical engineers
- Travel frequently to support the broader surrounding regions
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2–3 years of field service or technical support experience in medical devices and laboratory automation
- Proficiency with PC hardware, Windows OS, Microsoft Office, and basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, VPN)
- Hands-on experience with robotic systems, laboratory instruments, and service documentation processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to change initiatives
- Frequent travel up to 50%, including overnight stays
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Access to a reliable personal vehicle
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs. with assistance, stand/walk for extended periods, and use standard hand tools
- Comfortable working in hospital and laboratory environments with possible exposure to biohazards
