About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist attorneys with drafting and reviewing legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and corporate/LLC filings.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support attorneys in advising clients on a range of business matters.
- Manage and organize client files, including preparing and maintaining corporate records and ensuring all documents are properly executed and filed.
- Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties to obtain necessary information and documents.
- Prepare and file forms with municipal, state, and federal agencies, including formation documents, annual reports, and other required filings.
- Assist with the preparation of alcoholic beverage license applications.
- Serve as a communication liaison between the firm and respondents, attorneys, municipal and state departments, and clients.
- Develop and document workflows to support and improve the firm’s internal processes.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 2–5+ years of experience as a paralegal, ideally in corporate, transactional, or regulatory/licensing practice.
- Paralegal certificate, associate’s degree, or bachelor’s degree; paralegal certification (e.g., NALA, NFPA) a plus but not required.
- Working knowledge of corporate/LLC formation and maintenance, including annual reports and registered agent filings.
- Strong legal research skills, with proficiency in research platforms (e.g., Westlaw, Lexis) and general internet-based research.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the professionalism to interact directly with clients, opposing counsel, and government agencies.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines across several client matters simultaneously.
- Comfortable working independently and reliably in a fully remote environment, including managing digital files and virtual communication tools.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard document management/e-filing systems.
- Prior experience with alcoholic beverage licensing (ABC) applications or other regulatory licensing processes (preferred).
- Experience supporting municipal or state government filings in California or other jurisdictions (preferred).
- Experience creating or improving firm workflows, templates, or process documentation (preferred).
