About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the first point of contact for internal employees and partner teams regarding coverage, claims, and enrollment
- Direct US employees to Sparrow for leave support
- Own the inbox and triage inquiries to appropriate teams
- Support leave-of-absence cases outside the US
- Coordinate and support external and internal partners
- Develop and send employee communications about benefit changes or updates
- Conduct recurring and ad-hoc audits; investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders on benefit plan administration
- Coordinate broker/carrier upskilling sessions
- Support billing and invoicing
- Maintain digital storage of plan documents and employee resources
- Maintain HIPAA compliance
- Administer the 401(k) plan
- Conduct internal and external system testing and review as needed
- Participate in weekly meetings to escalate and address employee-related issues
Requirements
What you’ll need- +3 years of relevant benefits and leave of absence administration experience
- US and non-US leave of absence administration and benefits experience
- Understanding of standard regulations and compliance practices related to leaves of absence and benefit plans, including FMLA, USERRA, PFL, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and GDPR
- HRIS familiarity; Workday experience is helpful
- Excel or Google Sheets experience is helpful
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Collaboration skills
- Detail-oriented, with exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
- Flexibility to manage ambiguity, pivot, and adapt to evolving business or client needs
- Comfort with a fast-paced work environment
- EST preferred; open to someone in Canada or the United States
- Availability for a 40-hour work week with no overtime
