About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Research, evaluate, and prototype emerging technologies in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computer vision
- Design, develop, and integrate AI-based algorithms into commercial machine vision products such as Sherlock, Astrocyte, and Sapera
- Develop, maintain, and optimize production-quality software, primarily in C++ and Python
- Implement and maintain automated unit tests, integration tests, and validation procedures
- Diagnose, debug, and improve existing software components and AI models
- Collaborate with software development, hardware, product management, and applications engineering teams
- Contribute to OCR, image analysis, machine learning, and inference pipelines for industrial inspection applications
- Apply software development best practices, including source code management, code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly to accelerate development while validating results through testing and technical reviews
- Occasionally participate in industry, scientific, or technical events related to AI, machine vision, and industrial automation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or equivalent experience in artificial intelligence, computer science, software engineering, or a related field
- Strong programming experience in Python
- Strong software development experience with C++
- Experience developing software for Windows and/or Linux
- Strong understanding of machine learning, deep learning, data science, and computer vision concepts
- Experience with at least one AI development framework, such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
- Knowledge of software development best practices, including debugging, source code management, automated testing, and code reviews
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Professional proficiency in English; knowledge of French is an asset for local collaboration
- Experience with machine vision, imaging systems, or computer vision applications
- Experience with OpenCV, ONNX Runtime, OCR technologies, barcode reading, or image processing libraries
- Experience with embedded systems or Edge AI deployment
- Experience with model optimization and GPU-accelerated inference
- Good knowledge of Qt, CMake, Visual Studio, Git, and modern software development environments
- Knowledge of industrial automation, industrial communications, or inspection systems
- Experience deploying AI solutions in commercial or production environments
- Professional experience using GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted development tools
- Experience with 3D vision, point cloud processing, calibration, or metrology applications
- French fluency and working proficiency in English are therefore required for this position
