About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform second level reviews to confirm Jurisdiction and Classification Focal determinations of hardware, software and technology.
Work with engineering, product development, and project management to address classification issues and concerns.
Understand technical elements of product development and bridge engineering with regulatory requirements.
Supervise and support Aerospace and Defense Jurisdiction and Classification Focal teams.
Provide strategic guidance on designing and classifying items for introduction into intended markets.
Monitor applicable regulations and lead implementation of holds, changes, hold releases, or license updates to avoid unauthorized transfers.
Develop, implement, manage, and train on Jurisdiction and Classification processes and tools.
Maintain and update local Jurisdiction and Classification policies and procedures.
Draft and submit Commodity Jurisdiction requests to the U.S. Department of State via DECCS or CCATS requests to the Bureau of Industry and Security for CITC review and approval.
Assist with investigations and disclosures of trade compliance incidents.
Conduct periodic audits and self-audits and implement corrective actions.
Provide periodic reporting and metrics to business stakeholders and the Corporate International Trade Compliance team.
Report to the Trade Compliance Senior Manager at Teledyne FLIR Defense in Billerica, MA.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university required.
Minimum of 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in engineering and regulatory analysis.
Working experience in performing structured Orders of Review required to substantiate a JC self-determination or support a formal JC request.
Experience in U.S. export regulations including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
Knowledge of U.K., E.U., UAE and/or Norwegian export control laws preferred.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret governmental regulations and other trade compliance resources, write reports and procedures and present information to business leaders.
Experience with working with SAP, GTS and OCR.
Hands on and pro-active attitude with a problem solving approach.
Analytical and critical thinking skills.
Team player in a diverse and internationally operating business.
Ability to travel approximately 20% as necessary.
