About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Re-engineer the core Teleport product to scale globally and optimize routing latency
Rewrite portions of the core Teleport product to support the cloud product
Build monitoring and observability infrastructure to detect production issues and minimize false positives
Automate and eliminate high-toil activities
Handle operational challenges including patching, scaling, backup and restore, and disaster recovery
Investigate customer outages and incidents
Participate in the on-call rotation to ensure 24/7/365 system uptime
Collaborate with Teleport engineers through a hands-on Go coding challenge during the hiring process

Requirements

What you’ll need

8+ years of progressive experience in Software Engineering and/or SRE/DevOps roles
Strong experience in Linux systems, networking, containers, and troubleshooting
Solid Go and production Kubernetes development experience
Technical leadership experience
Strong experience developing scripts, automation, submitting patches to the product codebase, or building tooling that incorporates AI agents into operational workflows
AWS Cloud experience preferred; GCP experience acceptable
Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki
Experience operating and supporting observability platforms
Experience working where security choices are critical and reasoning about correctness and system invariants is valued
Willingness to complete a coding challenge in Go as part of the interview process
Intellectual curiosity and willingness to master new technologies
Excellent communication skills
Must be able to attend onboarding week in person at the Oakland, CA office
Must undergo background checks
