About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead behavioral health services and initiatives across assigned programs and contracts
  • Integrate behavioral health into care management, transition planning, community-based services, quality improvement, and program operations
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and continuously improve behavioral health strategies
  • Identify behavioral health risks, access barriers, service gaps, emerging trends, and operational intervention opportunities
  • Coordinate behavioral health services with physical health, social services, housing, substance use disorder treatment, and other supports
  • Provide subject matter expertise for program design, implementation, corrective action plans, and special initiatives
  • Improve timely access to behavioral health services and support continuity of care during transitions into community settings
  • Establish processes to monitor referrals, appointment access, follow-up, continuity of care, and barrier resolution
  • Build relationships with providers, community organizations, health plans, state agencies, and other stakeholders
  • Monitor performance measures, key performance indicators, utilization trends, access measures, transition outcomes, contract deliverables, and regulatory requirements
  • Use quantitative and qualitative data to identify performance gaps and recommend interventions
  • Develop reports, presentations, executive briefings, and recommendations
  • Provide leadership, coaching, clinical consultation, mentorship, education, and training to program staff
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, professional development, and special projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health, social work, psychology, counseling, nursing, healthcare administration, public health, or a related field required
  • Current Illinois clinical licensure in an applicable behavioral health or healthcare profession preferred, including LCSW, LCPC, RN, Psychologist, or another recognized behavioral health clinician
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in behavioral health, mental health services, healthcare, care management, population health, social services, or related fields
  • Master’s degree in a related discipline strongly preferred
  • Experience with serious mental illness, complex behavioral health needs, substance use disorders, or co-occurring medical and behavioral health conditions strongly preferred
  • Experience with Medicaid, managed care, community mental health, behavioral health systems, care transitions, or publicly funded health and human services programs preferred
  • Experience supporting transitions from institutional, inpatient, residential, or other higher-acuity settings into community-based care strongly preferred
  • Leadership experience overseeing behavioral health programs, clinical initiatives, interdisciplinary teams, or major cross-functional projects preferred
  • Experience with behavioral health quality measures, contract performance, utilization trends, clinical outcomes, or corrective action planning preferred
