About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, primarily Terraform
- Deploy and manage Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine clusters, Cloud Run, and Cloud Functions
- Configure and maintain VPCs, subnetting, firewall rules, VPN/Interconnect, Cloud Load Balancing, certificate management, and Cloud DNS
- Administer compute resources across Compute Engine, Cloud Run, and Cloud SQL
- Implement and assist in managing IAM roles and permissions following least privilege
- Manage secrets with GCP Secret Manager
- Manage Cloud Armor and Identity-Aware Proxy
- Use Security Command Center to identify and remediate vulnerabilities
- Help ensure the environment meets standards such as SOC2
- Establish monitoring and alerting using Google Cloud Observability
- Develop and test backup and disaster recovery strategies
- Perform system patching and image hardening
- Monitor cloud consumption and implement cost-saving measures
- Establish billing alerts and resource-labeling standards
- Lead migration of on-premises batch scheduling workloads to GCP Composer/Apache Airflow
- Design and implement scalable DAGs for data pipelines and batch jobs
- Analyze legacy schedules for parallelization, optimization, and modernization
- Manage cutover events with zero data loss and minimal downtime
- Participate in on-call support and emergency troubleshooting
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3–5+ years of professional experience managing production environments in Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- 3–5 years of proven experience supporting the migration of on-premises batch scheduling systems to GCP Composer or Apache Airflow
- Proven expertise with Terraform for provisioning cloud resources
- Strong proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes (K8s)
- Expert-level knowledge of Linux administration
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, and Load Balancing
- Availability for support during standard business hours and non-business hours
- GCP Professional Cloud Architect or Professional Data Engineer certification preferred
- Experience with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Google Cloud Build preferred
- Proficiency in Python, specifically for Airflow/Composer DAG development, preferred
