About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop, enhance, maintain, and support enterprise applications using the PowerBuilder framework
Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Design, develop, and modify PowerBuilder applications and components
Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects
Work with relational databases including SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL
Perform application debugging, root-cause analysis, and production issue resolution
Participate in application modernization, enhancement, and migration initiatives
Collaborate with Business Analysts, QA, architects, and engineering teams
Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards
Develop and execute unit tests and support system/integration testing
Prepare and maintain technical documentation
Participate in release and deployment activities
Provide L2/L3 production support and resolve critical incidents
Identify opportunities to improve application performance, stability, maintainability, and user experience

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of hands-on experience in PowerBuilder development
Strong knowledge of PowerScript and PowerBuilder application development
Strong SQL development and database programming skills
Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, or Sybase databases
Good understanding of relational database concepts, joins, indexing, stored procedures, and performance tuning
Experience debugging and troubleshooting complex application issues
Knowledge of software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies
Experience with source control and deployment processes
Good understanding of enterprise application architecture and integration concepts
Preferred: experience with PowerBuilder upgrades or migration to newer versions
Preferred: experience with PowerBuilder DataWindow and complex UI development
Preferred: exposure to REST/SOAP APIs and application integrations
Preferred: experience with application modernization or migration from legacy technologies
Preferred: knowledge of .NET, Java, or other modern application technologies
Preferred: experience supporting business-critical enterprise applications
Preferred: exposure to CI/CD and DevOps practices
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a distributed team
