About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Support security testing engagements for clients
Conduct security assessments of infrastructure and web applications, both automated and manual
Perform penetration testing and attack simulations, including red team/blue team exercises
Assess common application vulnerabilities, including those listed in the OWASP Top 10 and CWE Top 25
Use commercial and open-source penetration testing tools, including Burp Suite, OWASP ZAP, Nessus, Nmap, Metasploit, CANVAS, SQLMap, and Empire
Write reports and prepare presentations
Explain technical findings to non-technical audiences
Provide remediation recommendations
Collaborate with the Offensive Security Manager and TELUS Cybersecurity’s Professional Services team

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of experience in penetration testing, cybersecurity development, and/or technical support
Proficiency with offensive security tools such as Qualys, Nessus, Nmap, and others
Experience with Burp Suite, SQLMap, and OWASP ZAP for web application assessments
Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems
Programming skills in Python, PowerShell, Ruby, or other relevant languages
Knowledge of penetration testing methodologies and standards, including PTES, OWASP, CREST, OSSTMM, CWE, CAPEC, CVE, and CVSS
Strong oral and written communication and report-writing skills
Experience working with clients across a variety of industries and organization types
Ability to analyze complex problems and explain them clearly
Ability to manage multiple projects, manage time effectively, and work with minimal supervision
Valid Secret Level II security clearance or the ability to obtain one (required)
Advanced proficiency in English is required
Assets: understanding of Internet of Things (IoT) security; knowledge of social engineering techniques and wireless security testing; professional certifications; GRC standards; open-source projects; CTF competitions or bug bounty programs; software development; and AWS, Azure, or GCP infrastructure
University degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline (asset)
OSCP, CRTO, GWAPT, GPEN, OSCE, CSSLP, or ECSA certifications (assets)
