About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Create managed compute primitives for Temporal Cloud with clean abstractions, APIs, and extension across compute providers
Design self-optimizing autoscaling systems with signals, backstops, debouncing, and guardrails
Define the Open Source Server–Cloud boundary for compute capabilities
Architect, build, and operate services on the hot path of task execution
Deliver cloud integrations involving customer-account execution, IAM boundaries, secure credential handling, networking constraints, quotas, and failure modes
Establish SLOs, tracing/metrics, load and failure testing, incident reviews, and continuous hardening
Ship end-to-end, including API design, rollout strategy, backwards compatibility, and long-term maintenance
Produce design documents, conduct reviews, provide technical leadership, and mentor others
Lead cross-team platform changes across Server, SDKs, Security, and Control Plane

Requirements

What you’ll need

Significant experience building distributed systems or multi-tenant platform services, including design, implementation, and production operations
Strong systems fundamentals in concurrency, performance, reliability, and failure-mode thinking
Record of shipping platform primitives used by engineers or customers, including APIs, control planes, or data planes
Experience owning SLOs, incident response, and improving on-call quality
Excellent written communication and crisp tradeoff thinking
Go experience is a plus
Experience building cloud infrastructure compute platforms is nice to have
Experience with IAM/security boundaries for cross-account execution models is nice to have
Experience building Kubernetes controllers/CRDs or heterogeneous worker fleet operations is nice to have
