About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive strategic business expansion and collaboration opportunities with major U.S. cancer centers, clinics, oncology practices, Key Opinion Leaders and Academic Medical Centers in the territory
  • Structure strategic plans for gaining and retaining new and existing clients
  • Maximize client-bill contracting opportunities
  • Implement laboratory services agreements with bill account institutions
  • Collaborate with sales positions and cross-functional departments to attain company goals
  • Identify and develop partnering opportunities between prospective oncology clients and Tempus
  • Promote and drive adoption of web-based molecular information tools
  • Analyze the competitive landscape and assigned accounts to determine trends and provide customer feedback to leadership
  • Monitor sales performance to ensure objectives are met
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive territory business plan, including budgets, travel, territory management and goal setting
  • Represent Tempus company culture to external and internal constituents

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • B.S. in life science, biology, business or marketing
  • MBA preferred
  • 2-3 years of direct account management experience in a molecular diagnostic setting with a history of proven past performance that has met and exceeded expectations
  • 3-5 years of experience working with major cancer centers and clinics, oncology GPO’s, large health systems, IHDN’s, and large oncology practices
  • Demonstrated measurable revenue generation at either a diagnostic, pharmaceutical or relevant biotechnology company
  • Ability to provide an integrated MolDx/SaaS solution using Tempus’s sequencing technology
  • Consultative selling and objection-handling skills
  • Experience selling at the executive level
  • Understanding of the payor and reimbursement environment in oncology and diagnostics
  • Strong understanding of molecular diagnostics for oncology and the competitive landscape
  • Knowledge of oncology, hematology, chemotherapeutics and targeted agents
  • Excellent negotiation and customer service skills
  • Strategic sales account planning skills
  • Strong listening, problem-solving, communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Effective utilization of Salesforce.com
  • Advanced presentation skills and business acumen
  • Strong administrative skills and ability to manage complex environments
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Frequent travel greater than 50% throughout the territory
