About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Set standards for Tempus’ data curation procedures, protocols, quality, training, and efficiency
  • Create, disseminate, and implement oncology curation guidance related to diagnosis, treatment, and disease response
  • Serve as a subject matter expert across abstraction and oncology domains for internal and external partners
  • Support Engineering, Clinical Informatics, Data Delivery, and Data Modeling teams
  • Drive the accuracy and efficiency of clinical data abstractors by maintaining and communicating clear curation standards
  • Work with clinical data managers and abstractors who review clinical records, structure key data elements, and build the clinical repository
  • Ensure deadlines for deliverables are met while maintaining high-quality data abstraction
  • Influence decision-making across internal and external stakeholders regarding product development, project scoping, and deadlines
  • Create protocols, procedures, and training for data managers and abstractors
  • Set quality assurance standards and track quality performance over time
  • Research, interpret, and respond to escalated clinical questions
  • Assess clinical feasibility and translate partner specifications into clear abstraction protocols and custom templates
  • Lead large groups of abstractors in training and continuous education
  • Identify and manage projects to streamline curation, drive growth, and increase business value

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Clinical degree in nursing, health sciences, or another related major (e.g., RN; LCSW; MS CGC, MSN)
  • 5+ years of experience in an oncology clinical setting and/or as a head of abstraction
  • Experience developing and implementing protocols, policies, clinical research forms, reference manuals, or other procedural components in a clinical setting
  • Leadership and responsibility for aligning large teams across multiple levels
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, flexible environment with time constraints and obsessive attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets), analytics, and dashboards
