About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partner with pharmaceutical collaborators to independently execute robust real-world evidence research plans
  • Address trial design and outcomes research questions using Tempus’s multimodal platform
  • Lead derivation of complex real-world endpoints using extensive coding
  • Apply expertise in Tempus clinical and molecular data structures
  • Advise on methodological nuances and limitations of real-world data
  • Track advancements in causal inference, survival analysis, and oncology guidelines
  • Contribute reusable code, internal packages, and analytical best practices
  • Incorporate LLMs, agentic workflows, and other AI tools into daily workflows
  • Accelerate code development, discovery, documentation, review, and insight generation
  • Interpret RWE analysis results and evaluate study limitations
  • Communicate complex methods and results to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Prepare and present internal reports, external deliverables, manuscripts, or conference materials
  • Collaborate with product, oncology, clinical abstraction, and real-world data science teams
  • Enhance Tempus data quality, products, and analytical best practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Education in epidemiology, biostatistics, data science, public health, or a related field, at the level of either a PhD or a Master’s degree and 2+ years of additional work experience
  • Proficiency with observational real-world healthcare data
  • Analytical experience with time-to-event methodologies (survival analysis)
  • Proven expertise in executing real-world data analytical studies
  • Proficient in R and SQL, especially statistical tools and packages
  • Proficiency applying machine learning, LLM-based coding assistants, and agentic frameworks to data analysis, code review, or scientific documentation workflows
  • Adherence to good software engineering practices, including version control, modular code, and documentation
  • Demonstrated experience interfacing with clients and presenting to varied stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary scientists on complex problems
  • Preferred: Experience with Pharma or drug development
  • Preferred: Experience in Phase II–III clinical trial design
  • Preferred: Proficiency with claims, EHR, or registry data
  • Preferred: Practical experience configuring or adapting LLMs and related tools/frameworks
  • Preferred: Knowledge of oncology guidelines such as NCCN
  • Preferred: Experience with biomarker or molecular data, including genomics
  • Preferred: Experience with AWS, BigQuery, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
