About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects
- Participate in pre-task planning and report safety issues or concerns to management
- Maintain quality standards on all projects
- Assist with archaeological fieldwork, including survey, excavation, artifact collection and basic documentation
- Conduct archaeological surveys or excavations using common archaeological tools and methods under supervision of a Crew Chief or higher
- Identify artifacts and basic stratigraphy and record information on standardized forms
- Assist more senior staff with other tasks as needed
- Maintain equipment
- Communicate basic information to the Crew Chief or Archaeologist
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or related field
- Completion of an archaeological field school from an accredited institution or equivalent experience
- Basic knowledge of artifact identification, soils, and stratigraphy
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to use Global Positioning Systems
- A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required
