About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel
- Communicate with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, contractors, and others regarding site conditions, project requirements, and testing results
- Transport material samples and identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis
- Tabulate, prepare, and submit written and digital reports for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager
- Perform basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submission
- Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, work areas, and calibration records
- May assist with scheduling and dispatching technicians to project sites
- May train lower-level technicians and lead other engineering technicians on laboratory or larger field projects
- Follow safety rules, perform pre-task planning, report safety concerns, and maintain project quality standards
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent in training and related experience
- Experience with laptop computer use and Microsoft Word and Excel
- A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required
- Required ACI certification in one or more of: Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I; Concrete Strength Testing Technician
- Certification in radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation
- For steel services: AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), or ASNT Level II for structural steel and/or nondestructive testing services
- For facilities: relevant certification for the services or project requirements, such as Registered Roofing Observer (RRO)
- Successful completion of related internal safety certification/training
- Preferred certifications include NICET Level II, ICC certifications, AWS CWI, ASNT Level II, and other relevant materials certifications
