About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide engineering and consulting services for a wide range of environmental projects and clients
  • Perform and/or lead environmental site investigations, engineering analyses, calculations, recommendations, designs, inspections, and technical reports
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend risk-based and remediation strategies for regulatory compliance
  • Prepare permit applications, risk assessments, proposals, technical reports, and regulatory agency correspondence
  • Design environmental protection systems and plans
  • Support Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, site investigation plans, remediation plans, ecological surveys, tank closure assessments, asbestos abatement, stormwater management, SPCC plans, and site planning and permitting
  • Develop project-related risk understanding and protect the Company’s interests
  • Lead continuous quality monitoring and improvement across projects and proposals
  • Ensure quality, safety, and technical excellence throughout project execution
  • Champion safety best practices, enforce safety rules, and promote pre-task planning
  • Lead complex or technically unique projects
  • Supervise technical analysis and development of conclusions and recommendations in written reports
  • Assist in establishing and updating technical policies and procedures
  • Provide technical mentorship, direction, and training to less-experienced staff
  • Support business development through marketing strategies, proposal development, and client presentations
  • Serve as a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geosciences, Geology, or a related discipline
  • 8–11 years of progressive environmental engineering experience
  • PE or PG license
  • Experience with Clean Construction or Demolition Debris (CCDD) projects preferred
  • Demonstrated experience leading investigations, remediation oversight, and reporting for the IEPA Site Remediation Program
  • Demonstrated experience leading investigations, remediation oversight, and reporting for the Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST) Program
  • Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering preferred
