About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as lead instructor for five five-day ASEP-T courses per year for General Officers and their spouses, in person or online
  • Develop and maintain modular curriculum adaptable to face-to-face and online delivery using Zoom or Teams
  • Ensure curriculum meets VOW Act, TAP, Soldier for Life, and Department of Labor requirements
  • Present a five-to-ten-year vision of the executive landscape
  • Guide participants in building individual transition plans, career goals, assessments, and translation of military experience into civilian terms
  • Instruct on resumes/CVs, cover letters, networking, LinkedIn and social media, job search methods, personal branding, interviewing, salary negotiation, public and non-profit opportunities, and legal and ethical constraints
  • Facilitate internet- and AI-enabled experiential exercises, resume building, mock interviews, and mock offer negotiations
  • Conduct individual counseling sessions, including resume critiques, transition plan feedback, strengths assessments, and networking plan reviews
  • Help design and deliver an integrated spouse curriculum with spouse-specific breakout sessions
  • Coordinate a Day 2 networking event featuring recently retired General Officers
  • Deliver the annual one-day Introductory Transition Module for up to 200 students
  • Deliver up to eight customized Four-Star Executive Sessions annually, in person or virtually
  • Provide up to two hours of follow-on coaching per participant for up to 90 days after retirement
  • Develop surveys, assessments, evaluations, and course outlines; participate in after action reviews and contribute to reports
  • Coordinate guest speakers on VA benefits, ethics, financial planning, and estate planning
  • Work alongside the Alternate Instructor and coordinate with the ASEP-T Course Director

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Authorization to permanently work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Ability to pass NCIC-III and Terrorist Screening Database background checks for Army installation and facility access
  • No security clearance required
  • PhD in Business Administration, Human Performance Measurement and Evaluation, Organizational Psychology, Human Resources, Counseling, Management, or a related field; or retired U.S. Army General Officer status with a master’s degree in one of those fields
  • Honorable U.S. Army service at the General/Flag Officer level completed within the last 15 years
  • At least ten years of active-duty service at the rank of O-4 or above completed within the last 20 years
  • Three or more years of experience as a senior executive in a publicly or privately held corporation, or as a senior executive inside government
  • Three or more years of experience providing executive transition counseling, or serving as an executive career services officer or executive career counselor/coach
  • Three or more years of experience working directly with U.S. Army General Officers and senior executives in a publicly or privately held corporation
  • Three or more years of experience counseling U.S. Army General Officers and senior corporate executives on out-placement services
  • Experience within the last three years developing professional transition plans, development plans, and executive course curricula or training plans for General Officers
  • Demonstrated delivery of Executive Transition curriculum in an online/virtual format within the last twelve months
  • Current PHR/SPHR certification or other related professional certification
  • Ability to travel within CONUS, including to the National Capital Region for in-person courses
  • Prior experience instructing ASEP-T, TAP, or other senior-leader career transition programs preferred
  • Executive coaching credentials such as ICF ACC/PCC/MCC or SHRM-SCP preferred
  • Corporate or non-profit board service, or experience advising executives on board placement and LLC formation preferred
  • Experience designing spouse and family transition programming preferred
  • Working knowledge of retirement pay, TSP, SBP, VA disability, and Social Security as they affect senior officers preferred
  • Fluency with AI-enabled job search tools, LinkedIn, and executive personal branding preferred
