About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Identify, implement, and maintain data protection technical controls, including DLP, data classification, and data governance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business units to identify, assess, and mitigate data loss risks
- Locate sensitive data, assess risk, document policy exceptions, and review them with business units
- Monitor and investigate potential data loss incidents, breaches, insider threats, and unauthorized data exfiltration
- Recommend least-privilege access and rigorous security practices while preserving user productivity
- Execute tactical requests supporting scalable data protection controls
- Stay current on emerging threats and adjust DLP strategies and technologies
- Analyze risks, threats, and vulnerabilities affecting proprietary, confidential, and otherwise protected information and electronic devices
- Assess servers, workstations, laptops, smartphones, network devices, departments, and network segments for security risks and standards compliance
- Develop procedures regulating computer-data access and maintain role-based access controls
- Work with service desk and development staff on programming changes and data security for new or modified software
- Establish and maintain change and project management processes, work plans, and deliverables
- Research complex security issues, problems, and breaches and develop solutions
- Monitor security systems for potential incidents
- Partner with HR, Legal, and affected business units to investigate and resolve suspected data leakage events
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered
- Minimum 1 years’ experience
- Experience with the architecture associated with a security operations center
- Experience with the implementation of encryption software
- Experience with security information and event management systems
- Experience implementing technical solutions in support of a defense-in-depth strategy
- Ability to write and test regular expression patterns for detecting sensitive data
- Ability to review DLP alerts, distinguish true from false positives, assess severity, escalate per established playbooks, and document findings accurately
- Hands-on experience with Data Loss Prevention tools and Data Governance technologies across network, endpoint, email, and cloud environments
- Advanced knowledge of techniques used to cause, detect, prevent, or remediate security problems in end-user devices, computers, and network systems
- Demonstrated skill in post-incident computer forensics without destruction of critical data
- Knowledge of security standards and experience in their implementation
- Ability to design, implement, operate, and maintain information-security technical solutions
- Knowledge of information security best practices and regulations
- Ability to install and configure security software in computer networks
- Knowledge and effective use of relevant PC software applications
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
