About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop software for acoustic data capture to measure and characterize the acoustic signature of loudspeakers.
- Study existing measurement techniques and document the algorithms used.
- Develop a virtualization tool capable of applying acoustic fingerprints to an audio signal in real time to estimate the reproduced sound level.
- Perform measurements of loudspeaker acoustic signatures inside the simulator dome.
- Take measurements using a calibrated device to establish reference values.
- Validate the tool’s performance by comparing sound levels measured on the real simulator with those estimated by the virtualized tool.
- Evaluate performance, identify limitations, and analyze deviations from the reference measurements.
- Collaborate with experts from the Audio & Simulated Platform team on audio simulation for aerospace systems.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Currently pursuing a five-year engineering degree (Master’s level), specializing in signal processing, computer science, or a related field.
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of signal processing.
- Ability to apply and integrate technical standards.
- Proficiency in using measurement instruments, particularly sound level meters and spectrum analyzers.
- Knowledge of MAX/MSP would be an additional asset.
- Good understanding of standard audio hardware, including microphones, loudspeakers, and amplifiers.
- Experience using audio editing software such as Audacity or Adobe Audition would be an additional asset.
- Familiarity with version control tools, particularly Git, would be an additional asset.
- Knowledge of acoustics and physical measurements would be an additional asset.
- Thoroughness, autonomy, and curiosity.
- Ability to analyze measurement results and document work in a structured and methodical manner.
