About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and deliver a robust pipeline of new business opportunities across the Sea Sector portfolio
- Build relationships with customers, major prime contractors and key stakeholders across the defence community
- Identify, qualify and pursue opportunities supporting strategic growth objectives
- Develop capture and win strategies to secure new business
- Lead and influence cross-functional teams throughout the sales and bid process
- Work with Product Line, Strategy, Marketing and Operational teams to develop customer-focused solutions
- Manage key customer accounts and support long-term relationship growth
- Represent the business at customer meetings, industry events, exhibitions and conferences
- Contribute to strategic planning, market analysis and future growth initiatives
- Travel internationally and within the UK approximately 50–60%
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience in sales, business development, capture management or commercial leadership within the defence sector
- Proven track record of winning business and delivering sustainable growth
- Strong relationship-building and networking skills
- Ability to quickly establish credibility and identify opportunities
- Knowledge of, or experience working with, major defence prime contractors and defence supply chains
- Strong commercial and business acumen
- Ability to balance customer needs and business objectives
- Ability to lead, motivate and influence cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive, resilient and positive attitude
- Willingness to take ownership and make things happen
- Drive to continuously learn, develop and stay connected to market trends
- Knowledge of UK MOD procurement and commercial processes (beneficial)
- Experience of complex defence sales, capture management or bid leadership (beneficial)
- Understanding of export or international defence programmes (beneficial)
- Experience of structured bid methodologies such as Shipley (beneficial)
- UK Nationality required
- Must undergo, achieve and maintain Security Clearance (SC) without caveats before commencing employment
- Generally must have resided in the UK for the last 5 years for full SC; in some circumstances, 3 years’ UK residence over the last 5 years may be accepted with additional overseas checks
