About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, document, and implement solutions for Thales customers
  • Produce quality software components and applications within an agile software development process
  • Write use cases/user stories and allocate them to functional components as necessary
  • Provide technical expertise and support to other engineers and report to management
  • Create proof-of-concepts to demonstrate new ideas, technologies, and architectural concepts
  • Participate in code reviews for compliance with the defined software architecture
  • Ensure software implementation aligns with the proposed software architecture and recommended design patterns
  • Provide technical leadership and hands-on guidance to junior and intermediate software engineers in software design and implementation
  • Comply with security guidelines and provide required reporting to management
  • Facilitate discussions between stakeholders
  • Perform peer code reviews

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • College degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Mathematics
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in development of complex UI applications with Java and Eclipse RCP (JFace and JavaFX)
  • Extensive knowledge of standalone applications development technologies
  • Experience in software architecture design
  • Working knowledge and application of software design patterns and SOLID Object Oriented principles
  • Proficiency in Design Thinking
  • Broad understanding and use of software design patterns
  • Hands-on knowledge of the Scrum development process and Continuous Integration practices and tools, including Jira, Mercurial, Git, and Jenkins
  • Experience with Test Driven Development
  • Very good knowledge of all phases of the software development lifecycle: requirements analysis, design, implementation, code review, testing, and release
  • Self-motivated, critical thinker, able to dig into problems with little supervision
  • Attention to detail when fixing bugs or implementing feature enhancements
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer at the time of hire
  • Not eligible for visa sponsorship or assumption of employment visa sponsorship
  • Must successfully complete a post-offer background check
