About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide administrative responsibility for individuals, staff, facilities, and program-wide issues within the Tri-County area
  • Support individual choice, community integration, and inclusion of consumers
  • Spend substantial time at individual sites and Person Center Planning meetings
  • Respond to emergencies during and after hours, weekends, and holidays when applicable
  • Cover shifts and assume Program Coordinator responsibilities as needed
  • Review schedules and time cards submitted by the Program Coordinator
  • Fill in for the Program Coordinator and cover assigned duties
  • Interview, hire, evaluate, and terminate staff members
  • Ensure adherence to policies and procedures through training and feedback
  • Orient, mentor, and provide feedback to new staff
  • Delegate and assign duties to the Program Coordinator and monitor assignments to Direct Support Professionals
  • Review monthly documentation, financial records, inspections, drills, attendance, and case notes
  • Attend house meetings and assist with addressing issues
  • Develop and finalize house budgets
  • Monitor bank accounts, funding, and financial records
  • Track PCP documentation deadlines and ensure timely completion
  • Initiate modified service funding plans
  • Review EHR documentation and reports
  • Complete AIRS reports within required timelines
  • Conduct quarterly quality assurance reviews of assigned homes
  • Review medical appointment paperwork and monthly activity schedules
  • Complete corrective actions for medication errors
  • Model initiative, creative problem solving, appropriate workplace behavior, and confidentiality
  • Perform other assigned duties, including direct care and acting as Program Coordinator

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working directly with persons with developmental and intellectual disabilities
  • Ability to communicate with and support individuals experiencing behavioral challenges
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Access
  • Willingness to work anywhere within the Tri-County area (Calvert, Charles and St. Mary's counties)
  • Good command of English, orally and in writing
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints
  • Working knowledge of DDA funding streams
  • Effective supervisory and leadership skills
  • Ability and willingness to accept emergency phone calls and respond to emergencies 24 hours a day
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Access to a safe vehicle for transporting people receiving services; vehicle must pass agency-sponsored inspection
  • Ability to pass the criminal background check mandated by the State of Maryland
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
