About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist the Clinical team with Supervision Introduction/Orientation meetings for new participants and review supervision-plan conditions
  • Work alongside a clinician to provide proactive field-based direct services and limited court coverage
  • Conduct field-based engagement and supervision services supporting pretrial services and recovery supports
  • Participate in team meetings, morning huddles, clinical supervision, case reviews, staff meetings, and trainings
  • Complete progress notes and service-plan changes in the program database
  • Provide linkage and systems-navigation support with behavioral-health treatment and human-services systems
  • Raise participant awareness of services and recovery pathways and help remove treatment-access barriers
  • Coach participants in identifying meaningful activities and developing independent-living skills
  • Provide peer bridging during jail-to-community and hospital-to-community transitions, including access to food, clothing, housing, and support
  • Deliver services responsive to participants’ race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, and criminal legal history
  • Perform other duties as required by the Team Leader and supervisory staff

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent degree
  • Satisfactory completion of a recognized Peer Training program with externship experience preferable
  • Certification as a Peer Specialist, Certified Recovery Coach (CARC) or Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) strongly preferred
  • Minimum of one year experience providing peer services in a social services program, providing direct services to individuals, families and/or groups, preferably in a field based setting
  • Experience with forensic, legal system or field-based mobile treatment teams strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of community-based resources and support services for vulnerable individuals
  • Highly motivated self-starter, able to translate goals into action and deliver successful outcomes
  • Must be able to lift 5-10 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods
  • Must be able to navigate 5 boroughs of NYC and perform field work in a variety of weather conditions
