About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Answer incoming telephone calls
Schedule appointments and direct call questions through warm transfers or EPIC EMR messaging
Perform phone system and answering service functions
Respond courteously to patients, prospective patients, legal guardians, and powers of attorney
Manage daily patient and physician scheduling
Schedule patient visits to optimize patient satisfaction, provider template utilization, and treatment room utilization
Obtain, record, and update personal and financial patient information according to Medicare, state, and federal guidelines
Stay current on insurance rules and policies
Manage work queues in EPIC EMR
Verify referrals and perform pre-certifications as appropriate
Type, mail, and fax correspondence, including patient letters and new patient paperwork
Prepare patient materials and handouts
Order office supplies and maintain a clean area
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School Diploma or equivalent
One to three years' experience in Customer Service required
Medical office experience and 1-year prior scheduling experience preferred
Copier, fax, telephone system, postage equipment, and computer skills required
Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel skills required
Must be able to multi-task and maintain confidentiality
Must pass skills assessment tests
Strong verbal and social skills for respectful interaction with patients, physicians, and co-workers in person or by telephone
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent computer skills using Electronic Medical Records systems and Practice Management Systems
Knowledge of health insurance coverage and requirements
Basic Math skills
Analytical skills to make decisions based on facility and clinical situations
Knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA privacy requirements
No licenses, registrations, or certifications required
