About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide first-point-of-contact support for operational HR queries via the HR Helpdesk
  • Respond to queries with advice aligned with policies, processes and HR legislation
  • Escalate queries to HR Advisers or HR Business Partners where necessary
  • Prepare letters and other HR documentation
  • Process monthly employment changes and liaise with the internal payroll team
  • Monitor monthly reports to process appointment confirmations, DBS renewals and right to work checks
  • Maintain accurate employee records and store documentation in HR files in accordance with data protection regulations
  • Archive HR files according to relevant procedures
  • Support virtual and in-person induction sessions
  • Identify ways to improve HR services through increased use of technology
  • Assist with implementation of HR systems
  • Provide proactive and professional HR support to staff and managers across the National Church Institutions and other Church of England organisations
  • Serve as a day-to-day HR contact while supporting the HR Operations Manager, HR Business Partners and Deputy People Director

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Previous experience working in an HR department
  • Experience undertaking HR and general administration
  • Knowledge of the typical HR lifecycle
  • Understanding of confidentiality issues
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel in a work-based context
  • Experience using HR Information Systems, ideally Oracle HCM
  • SharePoint experience would be an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail, including working with numerical data
  • Ability to process high volumes of information and manage competing priorities
  • Ability to work as part of a team and support colleagues in meeting deadlines
  • Self-motivated, proactive and committed to excellent customer service
  • Ability to prioritise customer needs and communicate clearly with stakeholders
  • Interest in HR and development of skills in this area
  • Level 3 CIPD qualification or part qualification/studying for CIPD membership would be an advantage
