About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles by evaluating Church products, programs, and initiatives worldwide
  • Lead researchers and oversee their development
  • Set and communicate standards for evaluation, research methodologies, partner interactions, cultural sensitivity, and faith-based scholarship
  • Allocate staff and prioritize projects according to organizational priorities, researcher development goals, and delivery timelines
  • Manage evaluations with study leads, including maintaining ClickUp, monitoring timelines and deadlines, and tracking tasks
  • Ensure evaluation plans, instruments, analyses, and reporting deliverables remain aligned with leadership direction and initiative objectives
  • Review research plans, data collection instruments, analyses, and reporting deliverables and provide constructive feedback
  • Facilitate vendor management
  • Maintain alignment with the associate director and other evaluation research managers
  • Develop researchers' technical, interpersonal, and cultural competencies through development plans, growth opportunities, and accountability
  • Ensure researchers have support, resources, and capacity to perform high-quality work and maintain work-life balance
  • Build a culture of trust, collaboration, and communication through one-on-ones, team meetings, team-building activities, and ongoing support
  • Communicate CRD's mission, vision, and values and align the team with Correlation leadership direction
  • Support staffing changes, recruitment, hiring, training, orientation, and other people-management matters
  • Maintain relationships with Church stakeholders, leaders, departments, and areas
  • Provide expert consultation to General Authorities, councils, committees, departments, and areas throughout evaluation projects
  • Support short- and long-term strategic planning and operational improvement
  • Conduct research or serve as a study lead as time permits for backup support, mentoring, professional development, or specialized expertise

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy
  • Master's or PhD in a social science field (e.g., psychology, sociology, economics, education)
  • 8+ years of applied research or a closely related field
  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the greater Salt Lake area
  • Proven ability to lead diverse research teams and foster collaboration
  • Experience managing research processes and successfully completing research projects
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor researchers, support career development, and strengthen professional capabilities
  • Ability to define and translate program objectives into effective evaluations
  • Understanding of evaluation theory and guiding principles
  • Expertise in causal inference, experimental and quasi-experimental designs, non-experimental causal designs, sampling methods, and measurement
  • Experience developing, conducting, and analyzing surveys, interviews, focus groups, and observations
  • Fluent English language abilities
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation design skills and ability to communicate findings concisely
  • Skilled at building trust, establishing credibility, and collaborating with stakeholders at all organizational levels
  • Ability to work within broad parameters while implementing leaders' vision
  • Preferred: 3+ years of management experience
  • Preferred: Fluent abilities in a language other than English
  • Preferred: Deep understanding of a culture outside the United States beyond missionary service alone
