About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist in preparing and implementing the operations and maintenance annual plan
  • Collaborate with the Facilities Manager to define the scope and execution of building renovation projects
  • Inspect facilities regularly for compliance with approved standards and safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
  • Manage and coordinate maintenance activities, projects, and work orders through asset management control systems
  • Supervise other employees, potentially including a mixed workforce
  • Provide recommendations regarding hiring, firing, advancement, promotion, and employee status changes
  • Support the Facilities Manager in securing and overseeing contractors and vendors
  • Coordinate maintenance work and independent contractors
  • Maintain productive relationships with customers, employees, vendors, contractors, and Church department leadership
  • Set daily priorities for work orders and projects
  • Develop and monitor KPIs for facilities operations and staff performance
  • Support emergency preparedness and response planning
  • Recommend improvements to facility efficiency, sustainability, and patron experience
  • Provide facilities support throughout the Everett FMG area, including assigned facilities in Southeast Alaska
  • Travel regularly to remote Southeast Alaska locations for inspections, maintenance coordination, project oversight, contractor and vendor management, and local facility support

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities, Construction, or related field
  • Two years managing preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, commercial construction, or remodel/modification, or equivalent combination of six years education and experience
  • Ability to make administrative decisions and judgments under the supervision of the Facilities Manager
  • Sound understanding of Church organization and operations, including interaction with local and general Church leadership
  • Proficient business and customer service background with knowledge of best practices and standards
  • Proficient interpersonal relation skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills for interaction with diverse groups
  • Knowledge of organization structure, workflow process, and operational procedures
  • Experience leading others in a multi-discipline work environment
  • Ability to communicate professionally with others
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and service contracts
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the Everett FMG area, including Southeast Alaska, and spend several consecutive days in the field as operational needs require
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment while coordinating facilities operations, maintenance, contractors, vendors, and local leadership in remote locations
  • IFMA Certification or similar certification within 1 year of hire
  • Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy
