About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the Director of the Multi-Language Program in defining the long-term vision, goals, and roadmap for translation and localization within BYU-Pathway Worldwide
- Align translation and localization strategies with institutional objectives and Church standards
- Propose measurable goals for quality, cost efficiency, and turnaround time
- Partner with other CES institutions to maintain consistent vocabulary across languages
- Design, document, and maintain end-to-end translation workflows covering assignment, translation, review, quality assurance, and release
- Promote translation standards across Curriculum, Communications, Technology, Field Operations, Finance, Student Success, and other departments
- Facilitate integration of translation management into systems and internal tools
- Recruit, train, and mentor translators, reviewers, and linguists
- Create accountability structures, KPIs, and quality-control checkpoints
- Evaluate and implement Translation Management System and Computer-Assisted Translation tools
- Oversee term bases, style guides, and translation-memory maintenance
- Coordinate technical integration with existing systems
- Implement Linguistic Quality Assurance processes
- Conduct audits and back-translations for sensitive or high-visibility content
- Partner with departments and CES units to identify translation priorities
- Liaise between BYU-Pathway and Church Translation teams on terminology, policy, and cultural adaptation
- Manage annual translation budgets, contractors, and licenses
- Prepare quarterly cost forecasts and process-efficiency reports for the Director of the Multi-Language Program
- Present quarterly reports and process-improvement plans
- Promote continuous improvement through feedback, documentation, and refinement
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, Communications, or related field
- 5+ years of professional experience in academics with translation and localization management, or related management roles
- Fluency in English and at least two additional languages: Portuguese, Spanish, or French
- Experience using TMS/CAT tools and managing translation memories, term bases, and glossaries
- Experience translating and localizing higher-education academic material and/or auditing translated content and revising previously approved translations
- Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy
- Familiarity with machine translation and post-editing workflows (highly regarded)
- Proven record in process design, documentation, and quality metrics (highly regarded)
- Understanding of and ability to relate to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints tone of communication (highly regarded)
