  • Perform duties according to the intern’s strengths and goals and the magazine’s needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university, or have recently completed a degree from an accredited college or university within one year of beginning the internship
  • Be available for video conference interviews
  • At least one semester of college-level editing or writing experience, such as on a newspaper staff, for a literary journal, in a writing lab, or as a professor's assistant
  • Strong writing, revising, copyediting, and proofreading skills
  • Sound understanding of Church doctrine, history, organization, and policy
  • Ability to manage many projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Ability to give careful attention to detail, sustain concentration for long periods of time, and maintain the highest level of accuracy
  • Ability to work well with people and present an image of professionalism
  • Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ
  • Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy
  • Editing or writing emphasis, print or digital journalism experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Chicago style and the Church Style Guide helpful
  • Cover letter required
  • Resume including a link to a digital portfolio required
  • Digital portfolio including editing and writing samples required
  • Writing samples should demonstrate ability to write for specific audiences
  • 40-word teaser inviting readers to follow a link to an article
  • Editing samples must clearly show edits
  • Writing and substantive editing skills assessed through portfolio; testing may be required
