About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the cross-channel sales strategy and business plan for Kingsford categories and brands
  • Translate business priorities into an operational roadmap with KPIs, choices, resources and accountabilities
  • Shape integrated customer and category plans connecting consumer needs, customer strategies, market trends and business priorities
  • Guide the 18-month plan, annual business plan, category vision, innovation roadmap and sufficiency choices
  • Lead launch of key initiatives, trade budget choices and iterations, and cross-channel planning
  • Anticipate channel dynamics and ensure plans are executable through customer teams and cross-functional partners
  • Deliver annual sales, profit and gross margin goals
  • Partner with the Integrated Business Planning team, including S&OE and S&OP, to identify risks and opportunities and mobilize action
  • Lead innovation, NRM, pricing, trade optimization, PPA and MTO work
  • Represent Sales on leadership teams and build partnerships across Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, Insights, 3D teams and external customer counterparts
  • Attract, coach, empower and retain talent; build an inclusive and innovative culture; manage staffing and succession
  • Set vision and roadmap, communicate effectively, make decisive choices and hold the team accountable for outcomes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ten or more years of progressive sales, customer leadership or sales planning experience in a related environment; CPG experience preferred
  • Strong people leadership experience, including leading, developing and coaching a team; building culture and bench strength; and managing talent and succession
  • Direct experience leading a customer team and navigating cross-channel choices
  • Demonstrated ownership of multi-year customer or business planning and development and deployment of a national business plan
  • Experience leading or materially contributing to transformation, change or business turnaround work with sustainable results, including exposure to innovation, NRM and/or MTO project management
  • Direct experience with key elements of CCP and fluency in integrated business planning processes, including S&OE and S&OP, with responsibility for managing business risks and opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership, prioritize business unit resources and deliver short- and longterm business or organizational results
  • Strong financial acumen and business judgment, including P&L understanding
