About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform microbiological testing on water, raw materials, finished products, EMP, and CIP
  • Apply Internal and KORE standard methods while ensuring accuracy, reliability, and traceability
  • Serve as a technical resource and escalation point for complex or atypical test results
  • Leverage state-of-the-art technology for rapid, fit-for-purpose testing methods
  • Ensure compliance with GLP, internal standards, and KORE requirements across both sites
  • Identify deviations and support timely resolution, non-conformance management, and root cause analysis
  • Conduct and review microbiological risk assessments using product, process, EMP, and CIP data
  • Own or co-own risk assessments for rework, remnant requests, out-of-specification results, alerts, and emerging risks
  • Recommend and harmonize risk-based testing strategies across both sites
  • Co-define and optimize a unified EMP approach across Atlanta and Puerto Rico
  • Standardize sampling strategies and sampling point selection across sites
  • Analyze microbiological trends and develop shared risk dashboards and data-driven insights
  • Lead adoption of AI, digital tools, and predictive models for microbiology decisions
  • Champion the AI/automation pillar within the laboratory transformation and technology roadmap
  • Lead food safety quality initiatives with PQA and support Food Safety Coordinator and HACCP review
  • Contribute microbiological risk assessments and preventive control strategies
  • Mentor and technically coach microbiology analysts across both sites
  • Represent CPSNA at the Global Laboratory level and lead or contribute to global microbiology projects
  • Implement global initiatives and collaborate with global and local stakeholders to standardize the CPSNA microbiology program

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 6+ years of laboratory experience or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience balancing hands-on testing with strategic or technical project leadership
  • Multi-site or cross-functional project experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in microbiology or a related science required
  • Master's degree preferred in Microbiology, Science, Project Management or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Advanced QMS, KORE, and regulatory knowledge
  • Proficiency in microbiological testing methods applicable to water, ingredients, and finished food and beverage products
  • Familiarity with nonconforming materials management, CAPA processes, and root cause analysis methodologies
  • Working knowledge of GLP within a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Competence in risk analysis, especially using AI and predictive modeling tools
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS); preferred experience with S4Hana
  • Willingness to travel 00% - 25%
