About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and evolve shared platform capabilities within the Core Assessment Platform
- Design and implement component-driven, scalable, secure, and cost-effective software systems
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, and stakeholders to ensure quality and reliability
- Translate product capabilities into clear, testable engineering components
- Apply Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps practices
- Lead and contribute to sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and other Agile ceremonies
- Participate in and lead peer code, design, and architecture reviews
- Diagnose and resolve production issues
- Uphold and evolve security and development standards
- Refine CI/CD pipelines and delivery workflows
- Understand customer needs and business processes
- Evaluate features, estimate complexity, and shape sprint plans with architects, lead engineers, and data partners
- Influence architecture, engineering standards, and technical direction
- Mentor team members and participate in interviews
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7+ years of production-level software development experience managing the full feature lifecycle
- Experience with design, development, documentation, and deployment of software features
- Clear and accurate interfaces and integrations experience
- Proficiency reviewing and improving code structure and architecture for testability, maintainability, and scalability
- Hands-on experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node.js, and AWS Serverless technologies
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate with team members and Product Owners to prioritize backlog
- Ability to pitch new ideas and implement improved systems and processes
- Effective communication and team leadership skills
- Ability to provide actionable feedback, mentor team members, and participate in engineering interviews
- Ability to travel 3–5 times a year to the NYC or Reston, VA office
- Authorization to work in the United States for any employer
- Passion for expanding educational and career opportunities and mission-driven work
