About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance administrative applications used by University Housing and Dining
  • Develop and maintain legacy software systems using Python/Django, Oracle, and SQL
  • Develop new applications on modern platforms based on business needs and customer requests
  • Develop and enhance systems integrations between UHD systems, including CS Gold, StarRez, Mainframe, and Workday
  • Utilize emerging technologies and prioritize process automation
  • Manage support tickets, research issues, solve problems, and respond to customers
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to identify improvements
  • Stay current on campus technology changes through training and campus technology groups
  • Collaborate and share knowledge with developers/analysts on system design principles
  • Participate in UHD meetings, events, classes, and training
  • Interact with campus IT and business areas and perform special projects as assigned
  • Train users on new and updated software
  • Report on features and enhancements and update documentation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • One year of production software development experience using Python and/or Natural/ADABAS
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate
  • Criminal history background check required for finalists
  • Authorization to work in the United States and completion of Form I-9 required upon hiring
  • Ability to work Monday–Friday, with occasional extended hours during peak periods
  • Ability to be on campus for occasional in-person meetings and events
  • Resume/CV, three work references, and letter of interest required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an IT-related field preferred
  • Experience with University Housing and Dining systems preferred
  • Experience with Git preferred
  • Basic understanding of relational databases such as MySQL or Oracle preferred
  • Ability to analyze, test, document, and debug code preferred
  • Experience with The University of Texas IT environment preferred
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities and multiple concurrent projects while meeting deadlines preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills preferred
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team preferred
  • Ability to learn and apply new technologies preferred
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and work well with clients preferred
