About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Receive, tag, rotate, and properly store delivered merchandise
  • Ensure compliance with health code standards and University Housing and Dining policies
  • Verify expiration dates and product quality and inspect for damage
  • Distribute merchandise to internal locations using pallet jacks when necessary
  • Assist with inventory to complete purchasing requirements
  • Maintain cleaning and sanitation standards in work areas, freezers, and coolers
  • Maintain facility cleanliness
  • Communicate professionally with staff, supervisors, and customers
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain current knowledge of responsibilities
  • Adhere to University and UHD policies, time and attendance requirements, trainings, and compliance procedures
  • Complete and maintain required food safety training, including Texas Food Handler Safety
  • Follow work safety guidelines and use proper PPE
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school graduation, GED, or vocational school
  • Six months experience in receiving, storing, issuing, and accounting for property in stores or warehouse unit
  • Six months of experience in stock handling and/or maintaining records
  • Ability to complete and maintain Food Safety Training required by University Housing and Dining
  • More than six months of experience in stock handling, maintaining records, receiving, storing, handling, and issuing food and food service supplies (preferred)
  • Ability to multi-task and work with little supervision (preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral University and Housing and Food policies, procedures, and work-related instructions (preferred)
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills (preferred)
  • Must successfully complete testing for strength and agility prior to employment
  • Must present acceptable original documents proving identity and authorization to work in the United States by the third day of employment
  • Criminal history background check required for finalists
  • Resume/CV, three work references including at least one supervisor, and letter of interest required
