About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Independently manage highly complex Employment Practices Liability claims with significant financial exposure
- Perform complex coverage analysis, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution of claims
- Negotiate settlements on large and sensitive losses using advanced strategies to mitigate risk and control expenses
- Provide strategic consultation on large claim handling for staff and independent adjusters
- Participate in resolution strategy development and ensure consistency across high-impact cases
- Communicate with leadership about critical claim developments and emerging trends
- Serve as a subject matter expert on large-loss claim handling
- Coordinate consistent handling of large losses across jurisdictions
- Co-adjust select cases to support learning and influence outcomes
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced adjusters
- Lead collaboration with underwriting, legal, agents, vendors, and other stakeholders
- Use data tools and analytics to identify trends and improve claim outcomes
- Ensure compliance with documentation standards
- Prepare detailed reports for leadership and support continuous improvement efforts
- Maintain state adjuster licenses and complete continuing education
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- Typically 8+ years of professional experience in claims or related fields
- Strong negotiation skills in high-stakes situations
- Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to make confident, informed decisions independently with minimal supervision
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive issues with professionalism and empathy
- Ability to maintain constructive working relationships across diverse perspectives
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Ability to manage complex workflows and shifting priorities
- Deep understanding of applicable statutes, regulations, and case law
- Ability to apply legal and regulatory knowledge to claim resolution and compliance
- Ability to draft factual, relevant, and objective work products
- Ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive claim documentation using internal systems
- Efficient use of digital tools and technology
- Ability to mentor less experienced team members
- Customer-focused approach to escalated issues
- Maintain appropriate state adjuster licenses
- Complete required continuing education
- Ability to use a personal computer and standard office equipment
