About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a primary contact for questions about system operation from business and technical perspectives.
  • Research, collect, prioritize, document, and communicate business needs and requirements.
  • Develop relationships with business partners and demonstrate knowledge of business applications and products.
  • Partner with business units and IT to support business applications.
  • Collaborate with business partners, project team members, IT colleagues, and external vendors to clarify business problems, outcomes, and scope.
  • Provide technical expertise across Specialty Lines and Infrastructure technology business units.
  • Research and apply innovative best practices and recommend procedural improvements with the BA Center of Excellence and PMO.
  • Mentor team members and lead project teams in providing business context, QA deliverables, and business acceptance testing.
  • Act as project lead on small to medium-sized projects and technology initiatives.
  • Collect, analyze, and document business and technical requirements.
  • Participate in planning sessions to improve business processes or Specialty Lines products.
  • Support requirements design, testing, and implementation.
  • Identify business priorities and advise partners on options and technical limitations.
  • Apply knowledge of systems within Hanover’s technology portfolio.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong business acumen; knowledge of insurance products preferred, ideally with Specialty experience.
  • Ability to continuously learn and engage with business partners regarding scope and business value.
  • Experience participating across agile, waterfall, and iterative project methodologies.
  • Strong relationship skills and ability to collaborate effectively with business and IT partners.
  • Analytical thinking and ability to apply analytical techniques to resolve problems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Information-seeking skills, including in-depth research and asking probing questions.
  • Self-management, planning, organization, flexibility, confidence, and ability to maintain performance under stress.
