About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Independently manage highly complex and high-value field property service claims
  • Conduct advanced investigations, including outside field investigations and catastrophe response
  • Assess coverage and issue reservation of rights and coverage letters
  • Collaborate with legal, underwriting, vendors, agents, and other internal and external experts
  • Lead cross-functional meetings and communicate complex information to diverse audiences
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and technical resource for other adjusters
  • Identify opportunities to transfer risk to appropriate entities
  • Maintain comprehensive claim records and ensure jurisdictional compliance
  • Lead quality and efficiency initiatives for complex claims workflows
  • Identify and assign subrogation potential and support recovery efforts
  • Use technology, data tools, and analytics to identify trends, correct inconsistencies, and optimize claims outcomes
  • Negotiate high-value and contested claims using advanced strategies
  • Investigate suspicious claims and refer matters to the Special Investigation Unit as needed
  • Set reserves, authorize payments, and make financial decisions within authority
  • Ensure proper data ingestion, labeling, and protection of personally identifiable information
  • Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings and recommendations
  • Mentor junior adjusters and support training and best-practice development
  • Provide empathetic communication, educate claimants and stakeholders, and ensure a positive customer experience
  • Represent the company in mediations, arbitrations, and trials as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Typically 8+ years of industry experience
  • Industry designation relevant to the role preferred
  • Recognized authority in negotiating highly complex claims and implementing best practices
  • Fluent in Xactimate usage with level 3 certification or ability to achieve
  • Strong knowledge of local geography, regulations, public safety agencies, applicable statutes, regulations, case law, and third-party legal liability concepts
  • Skilled in negotiation, strategy development, judgment, decision-making, litigation, and compliance matters
  • Expert-level insurance knowledge and deep understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organization, time management, and desk management skills
  • Ability to analyze complex issues, evaluate risks and outcomes, act independently within authority, and identify claims patterns
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external experts, including legal and underwriting
  • Skilled in empathetic customer service and handling customer concerns
  • Skilled in claims systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to use a personal computer and standard office equipment
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods
  • Required to work on-site as needed
  • Ability to travel as necessary, including short-notice travel
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing, or stressful environment
  • Ability to perform work in a noisy/loud environment
  • May be required to maintain sufficient home-based internet connection
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle 4–5 hours per day and repeatedly enter and exit the vehicle
  • Ability to load and unload equipment and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to bend, walk, and climb for several consecutive hours while inspecting damaged buildings
  • Ability to safely use a ladder and maintain balance while inspecting roofs
  • Ability to perform field work in adverse weather
  • Must possess or obtain and maintain appropriate state adjuster licenses and continuing education credits
  • Valid driver's license
