About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Produce, maintain, and enhance the Economic Capital model
- Analyze and assess available capital for the Economic Balance Sheet
- Evaluate Economic Capital and Economic Balance Sheet results and share them with senior management
- Assist in producing Economic Scenario Generator simulations
- Streamline and automate data preparation, modeling, and reporting processes
- Collaborate with input providers across the company
- Use the Economic Capital model for strategic business initiatives
- Perform industry research and peer benchmarking
- Compare the Economic Capital model with other capital models
- Support scheduled production and ad hoc Economic Capital use cases
- Analyze and enhance modeling of investment-related risks
- Oversee Economic Scenario Generator activities
- Support the risk appetite framework and model sensitivity analyses
- Support due diligence for mergers and acquisitions and other strategic initiatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in quantitative discipline such as Risk Management, Finance, Actuarial, or related field
- Technical aptitude to enhance and use sophisticated financial models
- Desire to learn about investments and their associated risks
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong relationships with key business partners
- Strong oral and written communication skills to articulate concepts to peers and management
- Ability to distill model results into actionable business recommendations and solutions
- Self-motivated with drive and ability to take ownership
- Ability to adjust to multiple projects and shifting priorities
- Ability to work both independently and in team settings
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills required
- Experience with coding languages is a plus
- Required to affirm to HIMCO’s Code of Ethics and comply with disclosure of accounts, holdings, and pre-clearance of trades for personal and household accounts
- If deemed a “Covered Associate,” disclosure of political contributions from the past 2 calendar years is required
